Commissions
Need to Know
Prices for commissioned works are based on many factors, including the size of picture, number of subjects, medium, and most importantly, degree of detail. Once your individual requirements have been established I can give a definite price. As a guide, pencil portraits with an image size aprox A4 start at £150, watercolours of that size start at £375, and oil paintings at £500. Prices do not include frames.
Waiting Times
An estimated completion date will be given to you when we discuss details of your portrait. If you need it for a definite date (birthdays, anniversaries etc.) please be aware that I always have a waiting list. There will usually be at least three months between booking and delivery, longer in the run-up to Christmas, so please make your booking in plenty of time!
If I am unable to complete a gift portrait by the required date (and this will be established at the outset), if a deposit has been paid I can supply a Certificate to give to the intended recipient of the portrait, stating that the work has been commissioned.
Terms of Business on Commissioned Works
I ask for a 40% deposit on commissioned works. Payment of this secures the quoted price for a period of six months, and books you in to my schedule.
When the commission is ready I will send you a photograph of the finished piece and the balance must be paid before the work is despatched, or on collection. Carriage will be charged at cost.
Any photographic and travel expenses are not included in the price of the portrait and must be paid on the day that photographs are taken.
I charge a nominal £40 for taking photographs at my home; travel costs to your home/stables etc. will be in addition to this and calculated according to time and distance.
